The Best Nighttime Routine that Dry Skin Loves

Before you can go to sleep peacefully – it’s super important to take care of your skin first and develop a skin care routine that help your dry skin.

Never go to sleep without cleansing and moisturizing first – especially the dry skin will be upset and end up being even drier in the morning. Sleeping with makeup or sunscreen on your face can lead to breakouts and blackheads and also make your skin age faster.

But your evening skincare routine does not take a lot of time or effort – just follow these few steps to achieve beautiful, glowing skin.

Easy Bedtime Skincare Routine for Dry Skin:

STEP 1: DOUBLE CLEANSING

Start by cleansing your face, using oil-based cleanser will break down the first layer of makeup, sunscreen and pollution from your skin. Massage the cleanser into your face and wipe it away with a warm, wet face towel or cloth. Now you can use your water based cleanser, apply it all over your face and rinse off with warm water. Don’t forget your neck.  Pat dry the skin with a clean towel.

Using the double cleanse method this way leaves your skin super soft and cleansing is the only way you can be sure that your skin is clean.

STEP 2: TONER

Second step is a toner. Quality toner balances skin pH level and leaves skin moisturized. Use a cotton pad or better if you have toner in spray bottle so nothing goes to waste. Dry skin really benefits toner ingredients like aloe vera, rose water and hyaluronic acid.

STEP 3: SERUM

Next it’s time for serum. Serums are packed with active ingredients to treat your dry skin.

Apply a thin layer of serum all over the face and neck. For extra hydration you can apply a second or third layer for extra boost.

STEP 4: FACE OIL

Dry skin loves facial oils and it needs good, quality oils more than any skin type. Facial oils penetrate faster and prevent the moisture leaving the skin. Some of the ingredients to look for facial oils are rosehip oil, almond oil, hemp seed oil and jojoba oil.

Take a few drops of facial oil and gently massage into your skin. Notice how your skin has immediate glow.

STEP 5: FACE CREAM / NIGHT MASK & EYE CREAM

Last step but very important one is moisturizing. Moisturizers seal the moisture of the skin and give that extra hydration for dry skin. You can use a cream, lotion or balm. Also sleeping masks a few times per week are amazing for dry skin. Don’t forget the eye cream!

Extra tips for dry skin:

  • Spray rose water over your face few times a day
  • Yes, drinking water is good but sipping some coconut water has even better hydration properties than plain water. Bonus: its tastes super good!
  • No hot showers – we all love our hot showers but really try to avoid hot water on your skin
  • Stay away from harsh chemical products – better to choose simple natural products
  • Don’t stay too long in direct sunlight – while you get Vitamin D from 15-20 min of daily sun exposure, that’s enough. You don’t need to grill your skin since that makes it drier.
